This selection includes four wines from two small family-run wineries in Ribera del Duero, both of which limit their wine production to grapes harvested from their own vineyards. One is Manchón Mieres, located in Pesquera de Duero, Valladolid, with 17 hectares of vineyards, founded by Alberto and Carmen, a mathematician and a veterinarian. The second is Bodegas y Viñedos Gallego Zapatero, situated in Anguix, Burgos province, run by two brothers, Bienvenido and Ignacio, who decided to start winemaking after generations as viticulturists.
The wines, made from the region’s traditional variety, Tinta del País, perfectly embody what one expects from a Ribera del Duero: consistency, elegance, and intensity.
From the first winery, we offer two bottles of 47 PSQR 2021, a Crianza aged for twelve months in French and American oak, medium-bodied and well-balanced between wood and fruit. Additionally, one bottle of 47 Manchón Mieres 2019, aged for twenty months in 225-liter French oak barrels. This wine is slightly more powerful than the previous one, with greater complexity. Dense and elegant, it highlights the medium toast of the wood while preserving the variety’s identity.
From the second winery, we present two bottles of Yotuel 2021, a wine aged for ten months in French oak, made from grapes sourced from four plots, two of which are bush vines. It is an honest, fragrant wine that does not go unnoticed, with a limited production of 19,500 bottles. The other wine is Yotuel Selección 2019, made from lower-yield vineyards and aged in French oak for fourteen months. Limited production of 10,400 bottles.
