Château Les Hauts du Tertre is the second wine of Château du Tertre, a Cru Classé from 1855, located in the Margaux region. This wine is sourced from 52 hectares of vineyard, with a portion cultivated according to biodynamic practices. Since 1997, the estate has been owned by the Dutch Eric Albada, who has overseen a significant renovation while preserving the centuries-old tradition.
The grapes are hand-harvested, with a double selection process prior to vinification. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, concrete, and wooden vats, followed by ageing in fine-grain oak barrels with medium toasting for a period of 12 to 15 months.
The varietal composition features a predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon (43%) and Merlot (33%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (19%) and Petit Verdot (5%). Rich and robust, this wine displays delicate tannins that distinctly represent what one would expect from a Margaux. It is set to evolve beautifully in the bottle over the medium term.
