Vega Sicilia Único is a remarkable wine renowned for its extended maturation in various qualities and formats of wood over a period of 82 months. Following an initial 21 months in large vats, the wine is transferred to new oak barrels for a similar duration, before being placed into previously used barrels for a further 17 months. It then returns to large tanks for another 24 months before being bottled. Additionally, bottle ageing in the cellar lasts between five to six years. This masterpiece of long-term winemaking is limited to just under 100,000 bottles.
