There is a widespread belief that the wines of Volnay, a small appellation in the Côte de Beaune with only 206 hectares of red wine production, produce the most feminine wines of Burgundy. This Volnay "Las Grands Champs" from Domaine Poulleau comes from a vineyard of just 0.17 hectares and will put this conviction to the test, thanks to the elegant style of Thierry Poulleau, an independent winemaker. The wine has been aged in oak barrels, with 25% being new, for 12 months, and is intended for enjoyment within ten years of the vintage, or perhaps even longer.
