Ypióca is a family-run business that dates back to 1846. Currently in its fifth generation, it is the largest and one of the most traditional producers in Brazil. It is the most popular distilled alcoholic beverage in the country. Ypióca is produced through the distillation of fermented sugarcane juice and is often enjoyed in cocktails, the most famous of which is the caipirinha, made with lime, sugar, ice, and cachaça. It is also common to drink it neat, either as a shot or savoured slowly.
