Anís del Mono is a renowned brand of anise-flavoured liqueur created at the distillery established in 1868 by the Bosch and Grau brothers on Eduard Maristany Street, No. 115, in Badalona. It is arguably one of the most iconic liqueurs in Catalonia, rich in history and anecdotes. The production method is entirely artisanal, adhering to traditional guidelines. The composition of the liqueur includes matalahúva (anise), chemically pure water, refined and filtered sugar syrup, and alcohol. Distilled in 19th-century copper stills, Anís del Mono is available in two varieties: dry (green label) and sweet (red label). The brand is currently exported to the USA and Latin America. Closely associated with the Modernisme movement, the factory has been declared a Historic Heritage site in Catalonia.
