Anís del Mono is a renowned brand of anise-flavoured liqueur, established in the distillery founded in 1868 by the Bosch and Grau brothers at number 115, Eduard Maristany Street, Badalona. It is arguably one of the most iconic liqueurs in Catalonia, steeped in history and anecdotes. The production process is entirely artisanal, adhering closely to traditional methods. The liqueur's composition includes matalahúva (anise), chemically pure water, refined and filtered sugar syrup, and alcohol. It is distilled using 19th-century copper stills, producing two varieties of anise: the dry (green label) and the sweet (red label). Today, it is exported to the United States and Latin America. Deeply connected to the Modernisme movement, the factory has been declared a Historical Heritage site in Catalonia.
